Slave
Devices
The Slave Device is used for I/O points
expansion or to interface multiple appliances to a single
Gateway. It is similar to the Gateway 1000 Series except that it does not
have a built-in modem and internet connectivity. It does not
communicate with the internet directly but via the Gateway. Up
to 15 Slave Devices may be networked to a single Gateway in a
multi-drop RS485 architecture. Only a single pair of screened
twisted cable is required to loop all the Slave Devices to each
other and to the Gateway. The maximum distance between the
Gateway and the last Slave should not exceed 1,000 meters.
All Slave Devices have automatic soft addressing, requiring no
manual setting of DIP switches. After the local RS485 network
has been commissioned, it will auto detect any new Slave Devices
attached to it. The new RS485 network configuration will be
automatically reported to the iSCADA Server. The system is
Plug-and-Play and user friendly.
It may be powered independently or share a
common power supply from the Gateway.
